Beers Named Associate Athletic Director
July 2, 2009 Philadelphia, PA- Kale Beers has been named Associate Athletic Director for Advancement (External Affairs) at La Salle University. He will succeed Peter D’Orazio who recently accepted a position as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Williamson Trade School in Media, PA. Beers, a 1995 graduate of La Salle, was named Director of Athletic Communications in January 2002 and has been involved with the University’s Athletic Department since 1996 when he was hired to establish the La Salle Radio Network and to assist the department in enhancing its Athletic Promotions program. He later managed Corporate Sales and Community Outreach while also continuing to serve as the radio voice of Explorer basketball. As the Director of Athletic Communications, Beers played a vital role in helping to promote the image of Explorer athletics. He has twice spearheaded the redesign of GoExplorers.com, was an influential member of the Rebranding and Design Committee that introduced the current La Salle athletics logo system, instituted extensive video streaming efforts for Explorer athletic events and was the primary graphic designer for most athletic publications. “We are fortunate to have an individual with the enthusiasm and talent of Kale on staff and someone who is able to step into this key role,” announced Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Dr. Thomas Brennan. “Kale is well respected in the intercollegiate sports arena and even more so within the La Salle community. Having already served the Athletic Department in so many of the areas that he will now oversee also makes Kale an extremely good fit for this position.” Brennan added, “Feedback from alumni and others regarding Kale’s promotion has been extremely positive. We are glad that Kale is prepared and willing to take this step.” Beers will remain the Explorers’ radio voice while assuming the duties as Associate Athletic Director for Advancement (External Affairs).
