Athlete of the Week
Gabby Antonelli
Women's Lacrosse
Gabby Antonelli is this week's La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week following her picks as both the Atlantic 10 Defender of the Week and WomensLax.com National Rookie of the Week. Her stellar goalkeeping lifted the Explorers to a weekend sweep of Atlantic 10 foes, including the squad's biggest win of the season, a 10-9 defeat of league-leader Duquesne. Antonelli made 17 saves against the Dukes, including critical stops on free position attempts late in the second half to keep Duquesne scoreless over the game's final 15 minutes. Two free position stops came while La Salle was playing in a two-woman-down situation in the game's final three minutes of play. She also stopped a potential game-tying point blank shot just before the horn to preserve the biggest win of the 2014 season. Antonelli added nine saves in a 13-6 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday to complete the weekend sweep. She recorded an incredible .634 save percentage on the weekend to move her season percentage to .488, which leads everyday Atlantic 10 goalies and ranks her 12th in the nation.
