Athlete of the Month
Caitlyn Brostrand
Women's Lacrosse
Lacrosse junior midfielder Caitlyn Brostrand has been named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of April. Brostrand led all players with 21 points on 15 goals and six assists to lead the Explorers to a 5-2 month, which coincided with the entire Atlantic 10 regular season schedule. That 5-2 mark in conference play matched the program's best conference record, set in 2010.

Brostrand helped the squad to five straight wins to close out the regular season and clinch the first Atlantic 10 Championship berth since 2010. She was named the A-10 Player of the Week in the final week of the regular season after recording a hat trick at George Washington, which included the game-winning goal in overtime that clinched the playoff spot. She also assisted on the game-tying goal in the upset win over the league's then-highest scoring team, Duquesne, and also assisted on the game-winning goal at George Mason that sealed the No. 3 seed in the tournament.

Brostrand was named to both the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and the Academic All-Conference Team for the second straight year. She also concluded the season as the team's points leader with 41 points on 31 goals and a team-high 10 assists. This marks the third year that the junior has led the team in points and/or goals. She also ranks eighth all-time in program history in career points (125) and eighth all-time in career goals (112).

Athlete of the Week
Alfredo Santana
Men's Track and Field
Alfredo Santana placed third in his 1500m heat and qualified for the NCAA Final Round Championship to earn GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week honors. The senior ran a 3:45.65, finishing only behind Columbia's John Gregorek (3:45.27) and Boston University's Rich Peters (3:45.39).

Santana's mark easily pushed him along to Eugene, Oregon, the host of this year's championships. He finished third overall in the 24-runner field, of which the top 12 runners advanced.

The Nueva Esperanza product is the first Explorer to qualify for the final round championships since Quigley qualified for the 5k and 10k in 2008. He becomes just the second La Salle runner in history to qualify for the 1500m championships (Brian Gallagher – 1998).

Later in the evening, Santana ran a 15:04.31 in the 5k, coming in 41st (48-runner field).
