PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Men's soccer goaltender Mike Kirk has been named Soccer Six Defensive Player of the Week as voted on by sports information departments of the six Philadelphia area schools.

Kirk helped the Explorers to a 1-0 win over Loyola (Md.) Friday by making four saves, including one stop on a penalty kick in the first ten minutes of the match. The Mechanicsburg, Pa.'s heroics played a big role in the team earning its first win of the season and first win under new head coach Rob Irvine.

La Salle is in action again on Tuesday for its home opener when it hosts Drexel at McCarthy Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:00.
