La Salle Places 10 in Finals During Saturday Prelims

GENEVA, Ohio -
The La Salle swimming and diving team had ten swimmers qualify for finals during the preliminaries of the final day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the Spire Institute.
 
Three men qualified for the finals in the 200 yard breaststroke. Senior Johan Roth swam a NCAA "B" Qualifying time of 1:59.18 to top the field in the prelims in the event. Sophomore Dimitrije Mladenovic swam a 2:02.79 to join him in the Championship Finals. Junior Strahinja Stankovic swam a 2:05.26 for 14th place and a spot in the consolation finals. Freshman Alexander Holland swam a 2:19.40 for 26th place in the event.
 
A pair of men qualified for the Championship Finals of the 200 yard backstroke. Sophomore Fabian Bergman swam a 1:46.59 for the third fastest time in the prelims and junior Jerry Gravel finished in seventh to join him in the finals with a time of 1:47.00. Senior Mike Stein (1:53.92, 20th place) and freshman Jeff Pfannenstein (1:55.11, 22nd place) also swam in the event.
 
Sophomore Jakub Bartosiewicz had the seventh fastest qualifying time in the 200 yard butterfly with a 1:50.36 to reach the Championship Finals.
 
Junior Cameron Fadley swam a 45.86 in the 100 yard freestyle to qualify for the consolation finals in the event. Seniors Jonathan Cabral (46.98, 24th place) and Cameron Edling (47.71, 32nd place) and freshman Yashua Lockhart-Derry (51.76, 37th place) also swam in the event.
 
Freshman Olivia DiStefano qualified for the consolation finals in the 100 yard freestyle thanks to a time of 51.89 in the event. Junior Kate Hay just missed out on a spot in the finals as she touched in 19th place with a time of 52.07, just .12 seconds out of 16th place. Junior Tanawan Sukonthapanich (53.33, 42nd place) and Rory Kearns (53.70, 45th place) also swam in the event.
 
Junior Eva Oesterhus finished in 12th place in the prelims for the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.17 to reach the consolation finals. Freshman Mary Harrington (2:07.67, 21st place) and junior Julia Mann (2:14.13, 31st place) also swam in the event.
 
Senior Kelsey Jenkinson qualified for the consolation finals (2:21.89) in the 200 yard breaststroke. Sophomore Danielle Thomas (2:25.57, 25th place) and sophomore Maddy Koelsch (2:27.74, 31st place) also competed for La Salle.
 
Sophomores Hannah Elliott (2:06.80, 23rd place), Natalie Simunek (2:09.87, 28th place) and Alison McDonough (2:13.26, 32nd place) swam in the 200 yard backstroke prelims for the Explorers.
