Eight Men Earn Spot In Friday's Finals

GENEVA, Ohio-Eight Explorers qualified for the finals on Friday evening during the morning prelims during the third day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Three La Sale swimmers qualified for the evening finals in the 100 yard butterfly. Sophomore Jakub Bartosiewicz (48.64) and Junior Cameron Fadley (49.19) touched in third and sixth places in the prelims for spots in the Championship Finals. Junior Strahinja Stankovic (50.18) qualified in 14th place for a spot in the consolation finals just .65 seconds off a spot in the Championships Finals.
 
Freshmen Josh Williams (51.97, 30th place) and Yashua Lockhart-Derry (56.80, 35th place) also swam in the 100 butterfly prelims.  
 
Senior Johan Roth (54.86) and sophomore Dimitrije Mladenovic (55.41) finished in second and fourth place respectively in the prelims of the 100 yard breaststroke for spots in the Championship Finals. Roth's time was an NCAA "B" Qualifying time. Freshman Josh Williams (58.04) and senior Jonathan Cabral (58.19) touched in 17th and 18th places. Williams was just .03 seconds off 16th place and a spot in the Consolation finals.
 
Senior Cameron Edling (59.21, 21st place) and freshman Alexander Holland (1:00.65, 25th place) also swam in the 100 breaststroke prelims.
 
Sophomore Fabian Bergman reached the finals in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 49.43 seconds for sixth place. Junior Jerry Gravel touched in 13th place with a time of 50.71 for a spot in the consolation finals. Senior Mike Stein touched in 22nd place with a time of 53.16.
 
Senior Justin Hughes reached the consolation finals in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:14.44 for 13th place in the prelims. Hughes was just 1.2 seconds out of the Championship Finals. Freshman Jeff Pfannenstein touched in 18th place with a time of 1:42.22. He was just .21 seconds out of a spot in the consolation finals. Junior Mattias Glenesk (1:45.60, 34th place) and sophomore Robert Wilson (1:51.13, 40th place) also swam in the event.
