Men's Soccer Visits Massachusetts, Hosts Rhode Island This Week

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team travels to Massachusetts on Wednesday for its final road game of the regular season before returning home to host Rhode Island on Saturday. 

Scouting the Explorers
-The Explorers earned a hard-fought draw (0-0) with VCU on Wednesday before falling at Dayton on Saturday night. 

-La Salle is tied with Fordham for a league-best six shutouts this season.

-Freshman goalkeeper Cameron Keys has three shutouts in just five starts this season.

-Sophomore Mike Liska is tied for the league lead in assists (five), which ranks 32nd in the nation.

-Senior Andrew Connors is tied for fourth in the A-10 in goals with five.

Scouting the Minutemen

-The Minutemen are riding a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) in conference play, including a 2-1 win at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.

-Freshman Kevin Boino had both goals in the win over SBU, which was Massachusetts' first road win of 2015.

-Boino is now tied with senior forward Mark Morris for the team lead in goals with three. Morris leads the team in overall points with seven.

-Ty Goncalves and Alex DeSantis are tied for the team lead in assists with three apiece.

-The Minutemen started the season 1-10 and were outscored 24-5 during that stretch. 

-Massachusetts is 2-3-1 at Rudd Field this season compared to 1-7 on the road.

Scouting the Rams

-The Rams will look for their third straight win on Wednesday as they host Fordham at the URI Soccer Complex. 

-URI picked up a 1-0 win at George Washington on Saturday after defeating Saint Joseph's 2-1 at home last Wednesday.

-Freshman Emil Jesman Sunde leads the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Classmate Dominik Richter and redshirt sophomore Dante Lamb are behind him with nine points each (4G/1A). 

-Senior Ryan Oakley is tied with Liska for the league lead in assists (five), a total which ranks 32nd in the nation.

-Goalkeeper Nils Leifhelm owns a 0.89 goals against average and has posted four shutouts in 13 games. The sophomore currently ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in both save percentage (.840) and goals against average (0.89). His 63 total saves ranks 12th nationally.
