PHILADELPHIA – Former La Salle women's soccer standout
Kelsey Haycook has been invited to preseason training camp with the Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League in preparation for the 2015 season.
Haycook, who holds the La Salle career records for goals (60) and points (142), earned the 2014 Atlantic 10 Offensive MVP award and was named an NSCAA All-American for the second time in her career following her senior season.
The Point Pleasant, N.J. native set the soccer single-season record for goals (20) and points (43) this season, and is also a two-time Capital One Academic All-American.
Last spring, Courtney Niemiec became the first La Salle women's soccer player to sign a professional contract, inking a deal with the Thorns after earning an invite to preseason training camp in March. The Philadelphia native started the first 10 regular-season matches before going on the disabled list on July 24.
