Collins Named Assistant Coach for Cross Country/Track & Field


Ryan Collins has been named an assistant coach for track and field/cross country, head coach Tom Peterson announced.
 
"I am thrilled to welcome Ryan to the La Salle family," said Coach Tom Peterson. "Ryan brings a championship mindset to our program having been successful both as a coach and athlete at the NCAA level.  He will play a major role in the continued success of our program."
 
Collins enjoyed an impressive running career at both the University of Virginia and later the University of Wisconsin. While at Virginia, Collins helped lead the Wahoos to three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Cross Country Championships and earned All-American honors in his final year in Charlottesville by placing 32nd at the championship. He was a three time all-ACC honoree and all-Southeast Regional selection. Collins graduated with a degree in Kinesiology from Virginia in 2011.
 
He concluded his final year of eligibility at the University of Wisconsin where he earned his Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. With the Badgers he helped them to a team title at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships while also earning an individual All-American honor behind his 23rd place finish at the meet.
 
After graduating from Wisconsin, Collins coached for a year at his alma mater, Mansfield High School in Massachusetts where he worked with the cross country and track programs in the 2012-13 school year. For this past season Collins has been an Assistant Coach of Track & Field/Cross Country at the United States Air Force Academy. He helped lead the Eagles to a men's third place and women's fourth place results at the Mountain West Championship and the men's team earned 20th overall at the NCAA Championships.
