PHILADELPHIA—The La Salle women's soccer team has released its spring schedule, head coach Paul Royal announced Thursday. La Salle will take the field twice in March and three times in April.
 
"We've been able to secure one of our most competitive spring schedules ever," Royal said. "Each squad we will be playing has had a great history of NCAA Tournament appearances and conference championships; we're expecting it to be a very difficult spring."
 
In the spring opener on March 19, the Explorers will play host to crosstown rival Villanova—one of three games against Philadelphia opponents on the schedule.
 
A week later, the Blue and Gold will travel to Maryland to square off against the winners of the 2013 Patriot League regular season title, the U.S. Naval Academy, on March 28^th. 
 
On April 4, La Salle will take on a Rutgers squad that earned its second-consecutive NCAA at-large bid during the 2013 season. The game will be played on neutral ground in Jackson, N.J.
 
The Explorers will host Lehigh on April 10 at 8 p.m. before hitting the road for the final contest of the spring at Penn on April 18.
 
"Despite an adverse winter, our ladies have been reaching new levels both in the weight room and with their overall conditioning levels," Royal added. "We've really been impressed with the girls' attitudes and leadership, but we know that there's still a lot of work ahead of us if we want to reach new heights in the fall of 2014."
