CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – The La Salle women's tennis team dropped the first match of the Atlantic 10 Championships against Virginia Commonwealth, 4-0.
 
The Explorers competed against the number one seed Rams, but couldn't get anything going as they did not earn a point. In the championship tournament, Virginia Commonwealth earned the win by being the first team to get four points.
 
“We played a tough team, but the team went out there and worked hard to earn some points. Unfortunately, we didn't get the result that we wanted to get here today,” said head coach Tony Green.
 
La Salle dropped two doubles matches to the Rams, giving the advantage to Virginia Commonwealth heading into singles play.
 
In singles play, senior Allison Amrein dropped a match against her Ram counterpart in a two set match.
 
“It was great to work with all of these seniors throughout their time here at La Salle,” Green added.  
 
Junior Chloe Trave and senior Jenna Manzione both dropped their matches in two sets. The scores for each match were 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
 
After three singles matches were scored, the match was called, because the Rams were the first team to score four points, earning the first round victory.
