La Salle Falls At Georgetown, 2-0, In NCAA First Round

Box Score
PHILADELPHIA—La Salle women's soccer ended its memorable 2013 campaign with a 2-0 loss at Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  Jessica Wiggins made five saves in the contest as the Blue and Gold end their season 15-5-3.

The senior class will graduate as the most winning class in program history, having experienced three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and back-to-back Atlantic 10 titles.

La Salle started the game with several scoring opportunities including a shot by senior Renee Washington that sailed just over the cross bar. Two evenly matched teams, La Salle and Georgetown battled each other for each possession in the first frame. The Hoya's caught the first break of the game, finishing a loose ball out of a scrum within the six in the 28th minute.

The Explorers would hold the Hoyas scoreless the remainder of the half, entering halftime down 1-0.  Coming out of the break Georgetown would score quickly, sending a high arching header just under the cross bar for the goal at 46:11.

The loss snapped a six game unbeaten streak for La Salle, culminating in it's Atlantic 10 Championship final which the squad won on penalty kicks.
