QUEENS, N.Y. – The La Salle men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of #22 St. John's (6-4-1) on Tuesday evening at Belson Stadium in a game televised on ESPN3. Senior goalkeeper John McCarthy made a season-high 11 saves in the defeat.
 
Despite being outshot 14-5 in the first half, the Explorer defense stood firm as the period ended with no score. The Red Storm got on the board in the 67^th minute, however, on a Brandon Sevino header to put the home team up 1-0.
 
St. John's added two more scores in the 79^th minute to put the match out of reach. The Red Storm outshot the Explorers 34-8 in the contest.
 
Several of McCarthy's 11 saves were of the acrobatic variety, turning away shot after shot against the 22^nd ranked team in the land. La Salle put three shots on goal during the game, one each from Joe Farrell, Pat Sullivan, and Tom Baker.
 
The Explorers (3-5-2) open up Atlantic 10 play on Friday evening when they host Duquesne at McCarthy Stadium.
