Box Score
PHILADELPHIA—La Salle junior
Kelsey Haycook netted a hat trick in the second half, in addition to two first-half assists, en route to an Explorer's 6-0 defeat over cross-town rival Saint Joseph's. Classmate
Anna Dolhansky recorded two goals and an assist in the effort while freshman
Deja Davis scored her first collegiate goal for La Salle's sixth and final tally.
Dolhansky started the offensive onslaught, finishing a flick off the head of Haycook in the 39
th minute to give La Salle the 1-0 lead. Just 30 seconds later, the duo would connect again when Haycook crossed a ball from the left wing into the box to find Dolhansky's foot still hot from the first tally.
The goals were the third and fourth of the season for the Blackwood, N.J. native and would give La Salle the 2-0 lead entering half time.
In the second half, Haycook would take over at the helm of the Explorer's attack, netting three consecutive goals for a three-and-a-half minute, second-half hat trick that would account for her 11
th, 12
th and 13
th goals of the season, respectively. Haycook's 13 goals places her fourth all-time in single-season goals, four behind the record (17) set by Lisa McDermott in 1987.
Ashley Chilcoat and
Renee Washington earned the double assist on Haycook's first goal, stringing together two pinpoint passes to set their teammate up beautifully in the box.
Under a minute later, Junior
Maryam Huseini, who leads the squad in assists, sent a long ball over the heads of the Saint Joseph's back line to Haycook who used her quickness and fancy footwork to maneuver around Hawk goalkeeper Lauren Jancuska and dribble in for the 4-0 La Salle lead.
Huseini earned her 10
th assist of the season in the 67
th minute, fielding a pass from Washington and sending it into Haycook in the box, who buried it definitively for the 5-0 lead.
With just over 13 minutes remaining, La Salle's red hot offense could not be cooled, recording its sixth and final goal off the foot of freshman
Deja Davis. Davis unloaded from 30 yards out burying a pass from Dolhansky to earn her first collegiate goal.
Junior
Katie Getzinger recorded the win, improving her record to 5-1-0. Getzinger split the shutout, her fourth of the season, with sophomore
Kelsey Yaiser who recorded 20:28 of time in her first collegiate appearance.
Tonight's goals increases Haycook's career total to 38, just two shy of La Salle's all-time record (40) set by Amy Schneider in 2002.
