PHILADELPHIA - Terrence Stewart, the video coordinator and assistant director of operations for the La Salle men's basketball program, will be moving on to his first collegiate head coaching position at Immaculata University.
“I am thrilled that Terrance Stewart will lead our basketball program,” Immaculata University Director of Athletics Patty Canterino said. “He is committed to academics, character development and winning. I believe his leadership, confidence, dedication and vision will guide Immaculata men's basketball into a terrific new era.”
Stewart spent two seasons with the Explorers, working with Head Coach John Giannini and his staff in preparing scouting reports, coordinating film exchange and assisting in coordinating recruiting visits. In his time with the Explorers, the squad posted a 20-win season en route to a berth in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
Prior to La Salle, Stewart served as the head coach of the East Coast Elite 17U AAU team in 2009-10.
Stewart played 10 seasons of professional basketball overseas, including stints in France, Germany, Israel, Russia, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, and most recently, Spain for five seasons. He earned First Team All-Import honors three times and Second Team All-Import honors four times.
Stewart played for current head coach
Dr. John Giannini at Rowan University from 1992 to 1996, helping the Profs reach the NCAA Tournament in all four seasons culminating in a national title in 1996. He was named the tournament's most valuable player that season. He also led the squad to Final Four appearances in 1994 and 1995. He finished his career as Rowan's all-time leading scorer with 1,628 points.
