PHILADELPHIA –
Molly Gallagher, who served the last two years as the Advance Media and Communications Assistant at the Atlantic 10 Conference, has been named the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications/Video Coordinator at La Salle, it was announced today.

Kevin Bonner, Assistant AD/Communications & Promotions said. “Her technical skills combined with her enthusiasm for college athletics are a perfect fit to help us promote our student-athletes. We made great strides in the past year with our video initiatives and we look forward to Molly's new ideas as we strive to be the best in the Atlantic 10 in regards to multimedia.”
While at the A-10, Gallagher created all of the conference's video initiatives and managed the league's social media accounts, while serving as the primary media contact for field hockey. During her tenure, Twitter followers quadrupled and Facebook fans doubled thanks to her increased interaction through the social media platforms.
“Through my work at the Atlantic 10 Conference office I developed the utmost respect and admiration for La Salle University, its administration and its student-athletes,” Gallagher said. “I'm excited by the opportunity to become an Explorer and to promote the incredible work being done on campus.”
Gallagher created videos that appeared on the video boards during the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, along with new features like “Coaches Corner” and “Faces of the A-10” which were available on the A-10 website.
In addition, she was responsible for coordinating video content from all 14 member schools. During the A-10's 35
th Anniversary, Gallagher produced multi-media content for the celebration over a 15-week period.
Prior to joining the Atlantic 10, Gallagher was the new media intern at the NCAA for one year. She wrote stories for the Double-A Zone Blog and Champion Magazine, along with creating multi-media content for the NCAA website.
After graduating from Boston University in 2008, Gallagher was an intern with the America East Conference. She served as the primary media contact for eight sports, helping create the conference's social media campaigns.
While at BU, where she earned a bachelor's in broadcast journalism with a photography concentration, Gallagher was a four-year member of the varsity softball team. She earned the team's spirit award for all four seasons and was a co-chair of BU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as a senior.
Gallagher was inducted into the BU Scarlet Key Society, awarded to seniors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in student activities, and received the athletic department's Student-Athlete Service Award in 2008.
The Reading, Mass. native will serve as the primary media contact for two sports, along with producing content for GoExplorers.com and the video boards in Gola Arena.
She replaces Jared Smith, who is now an on-air anchor at NBC 25 in Flint, Mich.
