BALTIMORE, Md. - La Salle graduate Darnell Harris, who set the Explorer, Atlantic 10 and Philadelphia Big 5 record for career three-point field goals, will be inducted into the Baltimore Catholic League Hall of Fame on May 3 at the Rolling Road Country Club. Harris is a 2004 graduate of St. Frances Academy.
The 2008 graduate was a second team all-Atlantic 10 selection in 2008 and also earned all-Big 5 honors twice in his career. His 1,659 career points rank 17th in La Salle history and his 342 three-point field goals remain as the most in program and Big 5 history. His 123 three-pointers in 2007-08 are also a program standard.
The guard won the 2008 Three-Point Shooting Contest at the Final Four and has played professionally in France, Turkey and Morocco since graduating.
Harris played for coach Will Wells at St. Frances, averaging 19 points, four rebounds and four assists per game during his senior year before moving on to La Salle.
This is just the second year of the BCL Hall of Fame. The first class included former NBA standouts Quintin Dailey and Duane Ferrell and current Memphis Grizzlies guard Rudy Gay, along with Duke standout Steve Wojciechowski, Temple's Mark Karcher and NC State's Randy Monroe.
The 2012 class includes Tom Coles (Cardinal Gibbons), Leon Dickerson (Cardinal Gibbons), Darryle Edwards (Calvert Hall), Phil Lane (St. Maria Goretti), Robbie O'Conor (Loyola Blakefield), Mark Amatucci (Calvert Hall), Larry Callahan (Cardinal Gibbons), Barry Scroggins (Mt. St. Joseph) and Gene Shue (Towson Catholic).
