Complete Day 1 Results
KINGSTON, R.I. - Meghan McGlincney and the men's distance medley relay headlined La Salle's performances on day one of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships held on Friday at Mackal Field House.
McGlinchey won her first career individual indoor title and finished first in the 5k race with a time of 16:58.90.
"That was a great run for Meghan," said head coach Dan Ireland. "She scored some big points for us."
McGlinchey's first place finish scored 10 points for La Salle in the team standings. Teammate
Meghan Lutz also collected points for the Explorers with a seventh place overall finish in the 5k.
The men's DMR got a strong start from
Nick Ross and held on late to clinch the A-10 crown. Ross was followed by
Wayne Bartholomew, David Laratta and
Nick Crits to hold off a late push by Saint Joseph's to win the event with a time of 10:06.03.
"Nick [Ross] ran a great opening leg to put us in command of that race," said Ireland.
Alfredo Santana and
Joe Beveridge also scored team points for La Salle on day one with a fourth and seventh place finish, respectively, in the men's 5k.
The rest of the events will be finalized on Saturday with several opportunities for the Explorers to collect more team points.
After day one, La Salle's men stand in fourth place in the team standings with 17 points and the women sit in fifth place overall with 20 points.
