PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's soccer team was the top ranked squad in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll and is the second team in the "receiving votes" category of the national poll.

The Explorers' (12-3, 6-0 A-10) ascension to the top spot on the list came after sweeping an Atlantic 10 homestand over the weekend with victories over George Washington and Charlotte. The win over the 49ers on Sunday marked the first conference loss of the season for Charlotte, leaving La Salle as the lone undefeated team in A-10 play. La Salle had not been ranked number one in the region since holding the top spot on September 4.

Additionally, the Explorers appeared in the "receiving votes" category of the NSCAA National Poll for the second consecutive week, earning 23 votes, the second-most of any team not ranked in the top 25. La Salle knocked off No. 23 West Virginia in their season opener and is the only A-10 school to receive votes.

With the victory on Sunday, La Salle extended its win streak to nine on the season and its regular season conference unbeaten streak to 15, dating back to October 29, 2010. In addition, the Explorers hold a home unbeaten streak of 15 games at McCarthy Stadium.

La Salle travels to Fordham on Friday for an A-10 bout with the Rams in its lone contest this week. Look for a full preview on Thursday.
