PHILADELHPIA – The women's soccer community is starting to take notice of the impressive start that La Salle has gotten off to in 2011 as the Explorers received the highest poll results in school history on Tuesday.
For the first time ever, La Salle is receiving votes in the NSCAA Top 25 Coaches' Poll and is all the way up to No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.
The team also debuted at No. 43 in Top Drawer Soccer's Top 64 rankings.
“It's been a great start to the year for us,” said head coach
Paul Royal. “But now that the conference season is about to begin, I consider us as having zero wins and zero losses. The season will start all over for us again on Friday and we have to keep the momentum rolling.”
The Explorers (8-0-1) are the only team in Division I that has yet to allow a goal in 2011 and have begun the season with nine consecutive shutouts.
La Salle begins the Atlantic 10 schedule with two city rivals paying a visit to McCarthy Stadium this weekend. First up will be Temple on Friday night followed up by a match up against Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon.
Live video and live stats for both games will be available on GoExplorers.com.
