PHILADELPHIA – For the second straight week, goalkeeper
Melissa Sanger has been honored by the Atlantic 10 as the Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Sanger needed to make only seven saves en route to a perfect 3-0 week for La Salle that saw the remarkable shutout streak continue.
The Explorers (8-0-1) are the only team to be unscored upon in 2011 and Sanger is a big reason why as the senior has recorded nine shutouts to begin the year.
Also last week, Sanger broke the all-time La Salle record with her 18th career clean sheet in Friday's victory over Loyola. Currently, Sanger has recorded 19 shutouts in her career.
