La Salle University Athletics

A former pole vault world record holder, John Uelses was the first man to pole vault 16 feet (1962).  After that accomplishment, he came to La Salle and won the NCAA pole vault championship in 1964, as well as three IC4A championships and two MAC championships in the event. Uelses also played soccer for La Salle.
