STATE COLLEGE, PA- Someone forgot to tell the Explorers this wasn't Atlantic 10 Championship weekend, or NCAA regionals for that matter as the blue and gold sprinted past the competition at the Penn State Invitational to take a first-place overall finish out of 20 teams in the men's 5.2 mile race, and the women took the 11th-place spot overall.

The men blew by Oklahoma, Penn State, Kentucky, Wake Forest and Syracuse to name just a few of the national competitors represented at the meet. Junior Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ) ran to a third-place finish in 26:24 to pace the Explorers. Close on his heels were senior Ed Baynes (New Rochelle, NY) in seventh-place in 26:30, senior David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) at 11th place in 26:36, sophomore Trevon Rainford (Philadelphia, PA) at 16th place in 26:45 and senior Joe Fedorowicz (Abington, PA) in 25th-place at 26:54.

Other finishers for the men included junior Ellis Wilson in 33rd-place and freshman Sean Ward in 34th-place.

The women ran to an 11th-place overall finish out of 25 teams and were led by senior Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA) in the 6K race as she finished 12th overall in 21:31. The Explorers finished ahead of Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Lehigh and Connecticut and just one spot behind Philadelphia foe Villanova.

Following closely behind Papin were senior Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ) at 24th-place in 21:45, senior Christa Plummer (Quakertown, PA) at 29th-place in 21:48.

Other finishers for La Salle included senior Adriana Boyle (Havertown, PA) at 91st-place, junior Mary Clare Parrott (Sayville, NY) in 92nd place, freshman Kristina Kubula (East Fallowfie, PA) in 98th-place and fellow rookie Veronica Shanoski (Ringoes, NJ) in 116th-place.

The Explorers will not have much time off as their next competition is on Saturday, October 13th at the Lafayette Invitational, and then the team heads to the A-10 Championships on Saturday, October 27th.
