PHILADELPHIA - Brendan Armstrong has been named the Athletic Services Manager, announced by the La Salle Athletic Department. He takes over for long-time manager Mike Murphy, who is retiring after 25 years of service.
Armstrong comes to La Salle after two years in Temple's Athletic Equipment Services office. While at Temple, he was responsible for daily equipment set-up at practices as well as both home and away game-day equipment set-up. He also enjoyed a strong relationship with the coaches and operations staff in off-the-field activities including charity work. While working in the equipment office, Armstrong pursued his Masters of Science in Sport and Recreation Management, completing the program in July. He also earned his undergraduate degree at Temple in May 2008, majoring in Organizational Leadership and graduating cum laude.
As a senior, he also served an internship with the public relations department at the Philadelphia Eagles during the Spring 2008 semester, assisting with the writing of press releases and updating player and team information in the Eagles' media guide.
Prior to his education and employment at Temple, Armstrong spent time working for Diamonds In The Rough in Sewell, NJ, assisting with the maintenance and construction of athletic playing fields.
