PHILADELPHIA - Former La Salle men's basketball player Doug Overton will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Bucks County Chapter tomorrow evening.
A guard, Overton played at La Salle from 1987-1991, serving as captain his senior season.
Over the course of his career at 20
th and Olney, he amassed 1,795 points (14.6 points per game), averaging 22.3 points per game his senior season.
He was named to All-Big 5 First Team his sophomore, junior and senior season.
Overton still holds La Salle records for career assists (671), career steals (277) and career assist average (5.5), as well as most assists in a season (244) and steals in a season (98), and highest assist average in a season (7.63).
After La Salle, Overton played in the NBA for 11 years, on eight different teams, which include the Philadelphia 76ers. He then spent some time as an assistant at Saint Joseph's
Overton was inducted into the La Salle Hall of Athletes in 1998.
The 49
th induction dinner will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Trevose, Pa. at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Also joining Overton in the Hall of Fame class are Troy Vincent, Mike Pettine Sr., Dick Bedese, Vince Papale, Blair Thomas, Ken Herock, Pere Carill, Bo Ryan, Horace Ashenfelter, Louc Cecconi, Ray Feick, Patti Hower and Charles Mehelich.
