Junior Gina Massaro was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Massaro, who leads the La Salle pitching staff and also leads offensively, was voted on to the conference team by a vote of the league's head coaches. Story.

DJ Guinn smacked three hits, including a three-run home run, and picked up an extra innings win on the mound at Rhode Island on Sunday.

Explorers Conclude 2009 Season With Split at Rhode Island

Gina Massaro singled in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning of an offensive battle as the Explorers won 7-6 in the second game of a doubleheader at Rhode Island on Sunday. The Rams won the first game 6-3. Both teams concluded their seasons as the Explorers finished 9-29 overall, 7-13 in the Atlantic 10, while the Rams finished 14-37 overall and 3-17 in league play. Senior Brandice Balschmiter, who threw a no-hitter for the Minutewomen on Friday, returned to the mound and pitched six scoreless innings as the La Salle softball team fell to No. 24/19 UMass on Saturday, 8-0. Story.
