Guagenti Pegged Preseason All-Conference
Posted by: Marc Mullen PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University sophomore defender Jenna Guagenti (Atco, NJ/Paul VI) has been named to the 2005 Atlantic 10 women's soccer preseason All-Conference Team, as selected by the league's head coaches. Guagenti, the anchor of last year's Explorers' defense, made the team after being honored last fall with both a spot on the Atlantic 10's All-Conference Second Team and the All-Rookie Team. In 2004, she was one of only five players to start in all 20 games, and helped the Explorers reach the Atlantic 10 Championships for only the second time in school history. The defensive unit put up some incredible numbers during the 2004 campaign, which includes a 0.87 goals allowed average (school record), an opponent's scoreless streak of more than 435 minutes (school record), and had a pair of three straight shutout games. Guagenti also contributed on the offensive side of the ball as well, recording her first collegiate point with an assist in a 1-1 tie versus Charleston. She also scored her goal, the game-winner, and added an assist in a 3-0 victory at Saint Joseph's. The Explorers, who went 10-8-2 last season, improving their win total by seven victories, will open 2005 with a non-conference game at Villanova, August 26.
