Amy Grant will join the La Salle Women's Soccer staff for her first year as an assistant coach. The newest member of the staff is not a stranger to La Salle, as she has called 20th and Olney home for the past four years. The former Explorers goalkeeper is currently ranked second on the record books with a career goals against average (GAA) of 1.38. Her six career shutouts are tied for fourth all-time. In her time between the pipes for the Explorers, Grant anchored the backline for the most recent trip to the Atlantic 10 Tournament (2006), with an A-10 best 0.84 GAA in conference matches. Individually, Grant earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2006. Additionally, she was the La Salle Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year (2005), Coaches' Award winner (2008), and the Academic Award winner (2008). While at La Salle, she was a four-year member of the Honors Program and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She was awarded to the Dean's List and the Atlantic 10 Commissioners Honor Roll for seven consecutive semesters. Furthermore, Grant was actively involved in community service both on and off campus, and was the recipient of the La Salle Athletics Department's De La Salle Service Award at the 2009 Athletics Award banquet. A native of Denver, PA, Grant serves as a goalkeeping coach for youth goalkeepers. She was an assistant coach with Springfield Soccer Club from 2007-2009. She also works across the country as a camp staff coach with ONEonONE Soccer alongside international coaches Terry Phelan (former player for Ireland and English Premiership teams, current coach Otago United) and Bob Widdowson (Sheffield United). Grant graduated maxima cum laude in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also holds a National Diploma and a Regional Goalkeeping Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She resides in Downingtown, PA with her fiancé, Ryan, and is working on her Masters degree at La Salle in Business Administration. |
