PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle lacrosse players Kat Prokop (Towaco, NJ/Montville Township), Emily Bonczek (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Kate Henwood (Glen Mills, PA/Garnett Valley) were honored by the Atlantic 10 today for their individual accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Prokop, a junior midfielder, was named to both the All-Conference and Academic All-Conference teams.  She competed in 17 games for the Explorers this season and netted 17 goals and assisted on eight goals for 25 points.  Prokop led the team in caused turnovers with 21 and finished third in assists and groundballs (24).  Her shooting percentage for the season was 63%.

A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Prokop boasts a 3.66 GPA as a biology major.  She has played in every game during her three years at La Salle.  Prokop has a career record of 28 goals, 11 assists and 39 points.

Bonczek was voted as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year as well as being a member of the All-Conference team.  An offensive force, Bonczek led the Explorers in goals (57) and points (61).  She also proved valuable on the defensive side, ranking second on the team in caused turnovers with 17.

Bonczek overcame being shadowed by opponents' defenders, and proved worthy of three Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week nods.  She led the conference in goals per game with 3.31 and free position goals with .88.  Nationally, Bonczek ranked sixth in goals per game.

Finally, Henwood was recognized for her efforts as a true student-athlete.  A senior midfielder, Henwood has earned a 3.22 GPA as an education major and has been a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll twice. 

On the field this season, Henwood started in all 17 games for La Salle and led the team in assists with 11.  She finished the season ranked second in goals (37) and points (48).  In the conference, Henwood ranked 9th in points per game (3.00) and 10th in goals per game (2.31).

During her career, Henwood was honored as A-10 Rookie of the Week (4/29/02) and Co-Player of the Week (4/14/03).  She was also a member of the All-Conference team last season.  Henwood finishes her career ranked second overall at La Salle in goals (102), assists (31) and points (133).

Prokop, Bonczek and Henwood helped the La Salle lacrosse team to its first winning record (9-8) since the program began in 1998.

Joining Prokop and Bonczek on the All-Conference team are:  Kelly Chevez (St. Bonaventure), Patty Glavin (Temple), Laura Hostetler (George Washington), Kelly Mulford (Duquesne), Ginger Flocco (Duquesne), Allison Frengs (Temple), Courtney Gibbons (St. Bonaventure), Kristen Habicht (Richmond), Erin Berry (George Washington), Krista Mann (Duquesne), Stacie Pollock (Duquesne) and Kristin St. Hilaire (Massachusetts).

On the Academic All-Conference team with Prokop and Henwood are:  Laura App (Duquesne), Erin Berry (George Washington), Ginger Flocco (Duquesne), Jenny Heisler (George Washington), Krista Mann (Duquesne), Heidi Mayer (George Washington), Kelly Mulford (Duquesne), Jackie Nesbitt (Massachusetts) and Sarah Pacini (Duquesne).
