Explorers Close Out 2005 Season with Loss at Delaware

NEWARK, DE - The La Salle Explorer field hockey team closed out the 2005 season on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Delaware at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.  The Explorers end the season with a 4-16 record, and the win marks the Blue Hens' record at 8-11.

La Salle managed six shots in the game, including two on goal. Amy Comstock and senior Emilie Stewart registered the shots on goal for the Explorers.

Delaware opened the scoring just 1:52 into the contest, when Casey Howard went one-on-one with La Salle goalkeeper Ellen Axelsen to give the Blue Hens a 1-0 advantage.  Later in the half, Amber Deimler netted her first goal of the game with the help of Amanda Warrington at teh 15:01 mark.

In the second half, Deimler scored her second goal of the game with the help of Howard to give the Blue Hens the 3-0 win.

Axelsen played the entire game for the Explorers and tallied five saves.  In goal for the Blue Hens, Megan Allen took the first half and Nikki Rhoades checked into the second half and tallied Delaware's two saves of the game.

The Explorers held a slight advantage in penalty corners at 5-4.

Today's game marked the last time four seniors, Amy Dalrymple, Jen Rauscher, Emily Simone and Emilie Stewart will where an Explorer uniform.  Congratulations seniors!
