![]() Explorers Grab 3-2 Victory Over West Chester in OT

WEST CHESTER, PA - The La Salle Explorer field hockey team played its sixth overtime game of the season against West Chester Saturay afternoon and claimed a 3-2 victory. With the win, the Explorers now stand at 4-15 and 2-5 in the Atlantic 10 while the Golden Rams drop to 8-10 and 1-6. La Salle's Allison Geiger scored with 31 seconds to play with the help of Amy Comstock in the first half to break a scoring drought for both teams. After the break, junior Suzanne Strocen netted the Explorers' second goal of the game on a pass from Jillian Moser at the 34:21 mark to take 2-0 lead in the contest. With 18:45 to play in the second half, West Chester's Megan Glielmi snapped over 40 minutes of scoreless play for the Golden Rams on an unassisted goal. Two minutes and 45 seconds later, West Chester's Samantha Krick tied the game and forced an overtime situation. The Explorers wasted no time in the extra period, as freshman Whitney Madron paired up with senior Amy Dalrymple 47 seconds in to lift La Salle to a 3-2 win. West Chester held the advantage in shots, with the Golden Rams taking nine shots to La Salle's six. But the Explorers held a slight edge in penalty corners at 6-5. In the goal, Ellen Axelsen added seven saves to her season totals, while West Chester goalkeeper Carrie Hanshue notched three saves. The Explorers will play their final game of the season on Sunday, October 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Delaware Blue Hens.
