Villanova, PA - Looking to snap a four-game losing skid, the La Salle Explorer field hockey team paid a visit to the Main Line Tuesday afternoon to take on the Villanova Wildcats at Villanova Stadium. In the end, the Wildcats recorded their 16th consecutive win over the Explorers, this time by a 3-1 advantage.

The Explorers were out shot 23-7 and found themselves in a 15-5 deficit on penalty corners for the game.

The Wildcats got on the scoreboard when leading scorer Rory Rogers netted her 10th goal of the season. Six minutes later, Leah Lisausky netted what would prove to be the game-winner, on an assist from Sarah Francis.

Entering the second half with a 2-0 advantage, the Wildcats pushed their lead to 3-0 when Lugones cashed in on a pass from Megan Foster for Villanova's final goal of the day.

La Salle senior Amanda Spalding denied Villanova freshman goalkeeper Erin Scott her third shutout of the season mid-way through the second half. Sophomore Emily Simone notched the assist.

Explorer goalkeeper Colleen Bolger recorded a game-high 13 saves, keeping La Salle in the game with a collection of acrobatic saves.

The La Salle field hockey team will close out the 2003 home season this weekend, when they host the Rhode Island Rams on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and the Massachusetts Minutemen on Sunday at 12:00 noon at Hank DeVincent Field
