Newark, DE - The La Salle Explorer field hockey team faced #12 ranked Delaware Blue Hens Tuesday nigth at Rullo Stadium. Despite three late goals, Delaware junior Jessi Balmer scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season and fellow classmate Erica LaBar added three assists to pace the Blued Hens. The six Delaware goals marks the most goals the Blue Hens have scored in a game since a 1998 8-0 shut out of Lehigh. It was all Delaware until the last 15 minutes of the game, when La Salle freshman Jillian Moser (Lewisburg, PA/Mifflinburg) helped the Explorers avoid a shutout with 15:50 remaining in the contest. shortly there after, another freshman, Laura Farley (Burke, VA/Robinson Secondary) scored on a penalty stroke with 5:39 to go. Sophomore Kat Prokop (Towaco, NJ/Mountville Township) finished the Explorer scoring with 10:35 left to play. The Explorers open their home season at Hank DeVincent Field on Monday, October 6th when they face the Rider Broncs at 4:00 p.m.
