![]() Axelsen Tallies 10 Saves in 2-0 Loss to Lock Haven
Posted by: Sue Senner CELEBRATING THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF A CHAMPIONSHIP LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – In their sixth road game of the season, the La Salle Explorer field hockey team faced a 2-0 shut out from the Lock Haven Lady Eagles on Sunday at Charlotte Smith Field. With the loss, the Explorers drop to 2-4, while the Lady Eagles improved to 3-2. Lock Haven striker Nikki Sweger wrapped a pass from junior Sarah Huber into La Salle's cage to get the scoring started just over 10 minutes into the contest. Five and a half minutes later, Huber would tack on her third goal of the season, to close out the scoring and give the Lady Eagles a 2-0 victory. Goalkeeper Ellen Axelsen posted 10 saves in the game, while facing 12 shots. Lock Haven's Becca Yerkes made just one save. The Explorers managed just three shots in the game, including one on goal. The Lady Eagles out shot La Salle with 22 shots, with 12 being on goal. La Salle was also on the short end of a 6-4 penalty corner advantage. The Explorers will look to get back iin the win column on Tuesday, September 13th when they travel to Monmouth for a 4:00 p.m. start.
