HEMPSTEAD, NY - The La Salle Explorer field hockey team hit the road for the second time this season, traveling to Hofstra to take on Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon.  The end result was a 3-0 shutout for the Explorers, who now stand at 1-2, while Quinnipiac earned its first win of the season to stand at 1-1.

Quinnipiac opened the scoring 14:24 into the game when Jillian Carroll took a pass from Jaime Cassesse.  Carroll's goal proved to be the only one of the half.

Both teams remained scoreless until the 52:58 mark of the contest, when Cassesse took the lead and scored on a penalty corner with assistance from Carroll and Megan Sciascia to take a 2-0 lead.

Quinnipiac added its final goal with 55 seconds to play when Lauren Kuchmak netted a goal off a pass from Cassesse.

The Explorers managed just five shots in the game to Quinnipiac's 12.  La Salle also fell short in penalty corners, by a 6-2 margin.

La Salle will be back in action on Sunday, September 3rd, when they continue in action at Hofstra, this time taking on the Pride.
