HEMPSTEAD, NY -  The La Salle Explorer field hockey team opened the 2005 season on the road at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium on Saturday afternoon, taking on Quinnipiac.  The Explorers fell 1-0 to Quinnipiac in the season opener for both teams.

Amy Dalrymple and Emily Simone each took two shots for the Explorers, while Allison Geiger and Emilie Stewart rounded out La Salle's shots with one each.

Ellen Axelsen controlled the goal for La Salle competing all 70 minutes an notched one save while facing five shots.

After playing the first 35 minutes scoreless, the teams returned after the intermission hungry to get on the scoreboard.  Quinnipiac's Kristen McCarthy broke the scoring drought at the 49:33 mark on a pass from Jennifer Kinchla from the five foot mark.

Quinnipiac managed five shots on the afternoon, with all five coming in the second half.

The Explorers will look to rebound from the loss on Sunday, when they take on Hofstra at 11:30 a.m.
