Posted by: Sue SennerPHILADELPHIA, PA - Head field hockey coach Sarah Catlin announced the signing of Maria Allegretto of Coatesville, PA for the 2005 season. Allegretto will join six freshman, already signed, to round out the class of 2009. A standout player at Coatesville Area Senior High School, Allegretto led the team in scoring last season with 11 goals and six assists. Competing in the Ches-Mont League, she was honored as an All Ches-Mont First Team selection as a senior and an Honorable Mention as a junior. She was also selected as an All-Area Honorable Mention. Named Best Offensive Player on the team, Allegretto served as team captain and was the "go to girl" on penalty strokes, going three for three for the season. Allegretto has attended several field hockey camps and was chosen as an All Star at the NHQ Field Hockey Camp at Bucknell University. She was also the recipient of the Best ALl Around Player Award at Merestead Camp in Bryn Mawr, PA during her junior year. Allegretto has also honed her skills as a participant in the Futures Field Hockey Program. Off the player field, Allegretto lso excels in the classroom. An Honor Roll student and member of the National Honor Society, she will graduate in the top five percent of her senior class.
