PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle University field hockey team has been recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for achieving the highest team grade point average in all of Division I.

La Salle's team GPA of 3.56 was followed by a 3.47 posted by national power Old Dominion. Yale (3.46) Central Michigan (3.45) and American (3.44) rounded out the top five.

Already this season Haley Froshour and Whitney Madron were named to the Philadelphia Inquirer/Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area team and were joined by 13 of their teammates on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The achievement marks the second time in the past four seasons that the Explorers have been the #1 academic team in America.
