EASTON, Pa. - Junior midfielder Bridget Hilbig scored twice, leading the Lafayette Leopards (1-0) to a 4-1 victory over La Salle (1-1) in field hockey action on Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field. Hilbig recorded her first two collegiate goals in the season-opening game for Lafayette. Fellow midfielder, senior Maggie Condon recorded seven of the Leopards 15 shots in the game, including the game winner.

The Explorers lone goal came of the stick of Beth Carey who drew her team to within a goal at 2-1 when she beat goalie Kelsey Anderson three minutes and 47 seconds into the second half.

The Explorers were out shot 14-6 and surrendered twice as many penalty corners (8) as the took (4).

Goalie Emma Ruth made seven saves in the cage.

The next match-up for the Explorers is a Friday night, September 5th at 7:00 PM at Villanova.
