Dec. 22, 2008
PHILADELPHIA – After a 3-0 week for the Explorers, in which she averaged 16.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.0 steals a contest, La Salle Women’s Basketball junior Morgan Robertson earned her first Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honor, announced Monday. Robertson scored a game-high 15 points with a career-high four steals to lead La Salle to a 61-57 victory over Lafayette, Tuesday, ending the Explorers two-game slide. The junior then registered her conference lead-tying sixth double-double of the year with game-highs in points (19) and rebounds (10) in the Explorers 75-63 victory at Loyola (MD) Friday night. She completed the week helping La Salle to its first three-game winning streak of the year with a 15-point, seven-board, four-steal performance in a 63-47 win against Rider on Sunday. It was her seventh straight game with at least 10 points and she has scored in double figures in 10-of-12 games this season. Through 12 games, the Amarillo High product is already closing in on her totals from last season. She has scored 163 points so far (182 last year), has 113 rebounds (130), 11 steals (13), three blocks (4), and 16 assists (31).
Robertson leads the Explorers in points, rebounds, field goals made (65) and attempted (148), free throws made (33) and attempted (42), and in offensive (32) and defensive rebounds (81). Her numbers among A-10 players include – ninth in scoring (13.6 ppg), third in rebounding (9.4), seventh in offensive boards (2.67), and second in defensive boards (6.75). Again, she is tied with Xavier’s Ta’Shia Phillips for the conference lead in double-doubles with six. That total is the third most for a player who finished their career in the decade (Crista Ricketts, 8, 2006-07 and Jen Zenszer, 8, 1998-99), while the seven in her career are tied for fifth-most. La Salle (7-5) will be off for a week before returning to action at Lehigh's Christmas City Classic on Dec. 29-30. The Explorers open the tournament against Valparaiso starting at 5 PM. |
