La Salle Explorers (4-5, 0-0)
Conference: Atlantic 10

The La Salle Explorers look to snap a two-game losing skid on Tuesday as they prepare to host the Lafayette Leopards in non-conference action. The Explorers, who have had off for over a week, return to action after losing at home on Saturday, Dec. 6 to the Binghamton Bearcats. In the loss, only one player, junior Morgan Robertson, managed to score in double figures finishing with a game-high 12 points, on 5-of-11 shooting. Robertson is first on the team in both points (12.7) and rebounds (10.0), and has accumulated five double-doubles through nine games which includes three-straight against Saint Mary’s (CA), Radford and Morgan State. Against Binghamton, senior Margaret Elderton and sophomore Ashley Gale both finished with eight points respectively, each hitting two three-pointers apiece, and junior Tara Lapetina followed up with six points, also connecting on two threes. Lapetina, who missed 25 games last year due to a wrist fracture, leads the team in three-point percentage shooting 45.5 percent, on 10-of-22 shooting from beyond the arc. Elderton is right beyond her backcourt partner shooting 44.0 percent from three.

Lafayette Leopards (4-5, 0-0)
Conference: Patriot League

The Lafayette Leopards, who dropped their first four decisions of the season, have now won four of their last five which includes a three-game winning streak heading into this matchup. In their most recent victory, a 64-57 win over Bryant at home on Sunday, Dec. 7, sophomore Elizabeth Virgin racked up a double-double, ending with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Fellow sophomore LaKeisha Wright poured in a game-high 19 points, on 7-of-9 shooting, and was two boards shy of a double-double finishing with eight. Despite the victory, Lafayette was outscored in bench points (20-4), second chance points (12-6) and points off turnovers (18-17). Prior to the Bryant win, senior Cristin Zavocki tied a game-high 16 points, which included four three-pointers, in a 70-49 victory over NJIT. Zavocki is first on the team in points (10.7), shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from three.

Eye on an Explorer: Jenna Gilbert
Freshman Jenna Gilbert has really provided depth for the Explorers in just her first season. She leads La Salle freshmen in points (4.7), rebounds (3.6) and minutes (18.4) and is second in field-goal percentage (.405). Gilbert scored a season-high 12 points against Delaware and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds against Miami (OH).

Key Matchup: Morgan Robertson vs. Elizabeth Virgin
Junior Morgan Robertson and sophomore Elizabeth Virgin head their respective frontcourts as they both measure in at an even six foot. In eight of La Salle’s last nine games, Robertson has led the team in rebounds and six times she has either led or tied the team-high in points. Virgin, who is averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds, has garnered two double-doubles in her last two games. She scored a season-high 18 points in a loss to Marist on Monday, Dec. 1.
