PHILADELPHIA -La Salle University Women's Basketball Head Coach Tom Lochner has announced the addition of sophomore guard Alexis Scott, who is transferring from Monmouth University, and will begin taking classes at La Salle this fall. Scott played in all of the Hawks 31 games, making 28 starts. On four occasions, she led the team in scoring and three times was the team's leading rebounder. After the season, she was named to the Northeast Conference's All-Rookie Team. As a freshman, the 5-9 guard scored in double figures 12 times including a season-high 19 points versus Sacred Heart on Jan. 3, 2009. Her season-high rebounding effort was 11 against Howard just days before - Dec. 29, 2008, when she also added a season-high four steals. Scott also dished out eight assists on Feb. 28, 2009 in a game against Wagner. The Somerset, New Jersey product was third on the team in scoring (8.8 per game), third in rebounds (4.5 per game), third in steals (25 total), third in assists (45 total), and led the Hawks with a team-high 27 made three-point baskets. Scott was a four-year letterwinner at Franklin High School and was named All-Skyland Conference Second Team as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, she earned Star Ledger First Team All-County and all conference first team nods, while being named to the Courier News All-Area team.
She is the school's all-time career leader in rebounds (549), defensive rebounds (350), assists (211), steals (172) and is second all-time in blocks (132) and holds the Franklin single-season record for most assists (82). Per NCAA regulations, Scott is required to sit out the upcoming women's basketball season and will be eligible to compete for the Explorers the following year - the 2010-11 season. La Salle will begin the 2009-10 season with its home-opener on Friday, Nov. 13 against Loyola (MD). The entire Explorers non-conference schedule will be available later next month.
