PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Big 5 has announced its weekly honors and La Salle University Women's Basketball player Carlene Hightower has been selected as the Player of the Week for her effort last week for the Explorers.

In La Salle's two games, Hightower averaged 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, which included helping La Salle to a 70-54 victory at Lafayette.

This is Hightower's second straight Big 5 Player of the Week honor - as she received the honor last week as well - and the fourth of her career - with two nods last season as well. She is currently leading the Explorers in points per game (17.8), rebounds per game (6.5), and steals (27).

La Salle (8-7, 1-1 Big 5) opens up Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Richmond with a 2 PM tip.
