PHILADELPHIA - In a match where men's basketball head coach Dr. John Giannini was the honorary captain, the La Salle men's tennis team defeated the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, 6-1, en route to their third straight victory. The Explorers move to 6-2 on the season.

"It's a great motivator for the team," said Edward Colfer, Sr. on Giannini acting as the match's honorary captain. "Our team admires John [Giannini] so much. Just to have him take time out of his day to support our team really meant a lot to everyone."

Junior George Gennaoui kicked off singles action with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) victory at the No. 1 spot while also picking up a win at No. 1 doubles alongside senior Jon Maula, 8-3.

The Explorers (6-2) travel to Fordham on Saturday, Oct. 10, for a 10:00 a.m. ET match.
