Oct. 6, 2009 PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's tennis team picked up its second straight victory, and its fourth in the last five matches, as they went on to easily defeat St. Thomas Aquinas at home on Tuesday, 6-1. The Explorers move to 5-2 on the season. "I was particularly impressed with the way the freshman played," said Edward Colfer, Sr. "The way Trevor [Donovan] and Alex [Tomaino] played this afternoon shows great promise for future matches." La Salle swept through doubles play after earning all three victories and won all but one singles point. Senior Jon Maula was credited with the 10-8 tiebreaker point after he battled back and forth at No. 2 singles. "Jon [Maula] showed a lot of heart today. He fought to the end and didn't rest until he won," said Colfer. The Explorers (5-2) will host the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia at home on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
