Explorers Place 16th at Navy

Annapolis, MD - The La Salle University golf team braved inclement weather and a tornado watch on the second day of competition to finish 16th with a team score of 633 at the United States Naval Academy's Spring Invitational. The top Explorer scorer was once again senior Chris Caimano whose two-day total of 151 placed him in a tie for 27th in the 93 golfer field. He shot a one-over 72, the team's lowest individual score of the event on Saturday and brought in a 79 on the final day of competition. Junior Steve Sieracki finished 35 after posting scores of 76 and 77. Phil Bruce finished 82nd with a 164 while Mike Benzinger came in at 85th with a 165 and Wes Licklider took 88th with a 169. After finishing two rounds in a deadlock for first place the Navy Gold squad began play-off competition with Iona but the tornado watch and heavy lighting discontinued play with Navy taking the victory by virtue of top fifth player score. Today's round was interrupted by an hour and 45 minute rain delay. The Explorers have one final tune-up before Atlantic 10 Championship play and it will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd at the Peacock Invitational hosted by Saint Peter's
