Adler came to La Salle following two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. Under head coach Fran Dunphy, Adler assisted in recruiting and scouting, and also served as the head coach of the Penn junior varsity squad. At Penn, Adler was an integral part of the staff that led the team to an Ivy League Championship and an NCAA Tournament bid.

After several years practicing as a licensed pharmacist, Adler transitioned into basketball as a graduate assistant at Rowan University ('99-`01), where he earned his masters degree in higher education administration. At Rowan, he was an important part of a staff that went to the Division III Sweet 16. During the 2001-2002 season, Adler assisted at Centenary College, where he helped the Gents achieve their first winning season in 15 years. Following his time at Centenary, Adler worked briefly with the men's basketball team at the University of Sciences, before he joined the Penn staff.

Apart from his collegiate coaching experience, Coach Adler has also gained national recognition coaching overseas during three of the past four summers. In 2007, Adler served as the head coach for Maccabi USA team entry in the European Maccabi Games in Rome, Italy. He led the USA squad to a 4-2 record and a bronze medal. In 2006, Coach Adler led the Maccabi USA Team to a gold medal at the Inaugural Australia International Maccabi Games in Sydney. Additionally, he spent the summer of 2005 as an assistant coach for the United States National Maccabi Open team that competed in the 17th Maccabiah Games in Israel, the third largest games in the world.

Over the summer, Coach Adler will assist Bruce Pearl, head coach of the University of Tennessee, in coaching the Maccabi USA team at the 18th Maccabiah Games in Israel. The Olympic-style competition features the world's greatest collegiate and professional Jewish athletes.
