![]() Edwards Leads Explorers With Eighth Place Overall Finish at Penn State National; Explorers Also Successful at Lafayette

All seven scoring runners on the men's side finished in the top half of the field. Following Edwards - who ran the 8K course in 25:27 - was Trevon Rainford in 30th (25:57) and Tyler Jones in 49th (26:12). Rounding out the results for the Explorers was Sean Ward (57th, 26:20), Thomas Panulla (82nd, 26:37), David Hausherr (92nd, 26:41) and Andrew Wagoner (99th, 26:48). The women also posted a successful outing on Friday, led by the freshmen once again. Rookie Stephanie Bearish paced the Explorers with a 72nd place finish out of 300 runners by completing the 6K course in 22:12. Right on her heels was Caitlin Storbeck in 77th, with a time of 22:16. Freshman Wendy Hutchinson rounded out the top three for the Explorers, crossing the finish line in 22:48 (110th).
Also in action on Saturday was the 'B' squad at the Lafayette Invitational. The men finished third overall in the team standings out of 10 competing teams, and all scoring Explorers finished in the top 40 of 104 runners. Steve Childs paced the Explorers with an eighth place in the men's five mile race. Childs completed the course in 26:08.40. Kasey Geller placed 14th overall, second for the Explorers, with a time of 26:21.20 followed by Robert Ricketts in 22nd with a 26:38.00 mark. The women's 'B' squad placed seventh as a team out of eight teams. Emily Paffett led the way for the Explorers with a 27th place finish by completing the 6K course in 23:28.70. Sheila and Margaret McFadden rounded out the top three finishers, as Sheila crossed the finish line 29th (23:41.40) and Margaret finished 38th (24:02.70).
