May 13, 2009
PHILADELPHIA - Senior distance runner Christa Plummer was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. This marks the second academic nod for Plummer this school year as she was named to the Indoor Track Academic All-Conference team as well. She boasts a 3.19 GPA in biology and is headed to Drexel in the fall to pursue an accelerated nursing degree. Plummer has had a banner year on the track. She won the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter titles at the Atlantic 10 Championship two weeks ago en route to being named Co-Performer of the Year. She qualified for the NCAA regional meet in both of those events as she hit the regional standard in the 5K at the Penn Relays and at the A-10's, and ran a qualifying mark in the 10K at the Stanford Invitational. Also during the outdoor season, she earned Performer of the Week honors for the week ending April 27th. During the indoor season, she won the conference 3,000 meter championship for the second straight year and ran ECAC-qualifying times in all five races in the winter.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team, members must be nominated by their respective schools, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be a key performer on the team.
