![]() Swimming and Diving Announces 08-09 Schedule

La Salle University Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving head coach Matt Nunnally has announced his team's 2008-09 schedule highlighted by the Explorers hosting four events at Kirk Pool. "Competing against strong teams week in and week out allows our athletes to learn and grow throughout the season," said Nunnally. "We take pride in stepping up to weekly challenges. We are in a swimming rich area with many strong University programs in close proximity. We don't have to travel far to compete." "Our Atlantic 10 opponents allow us to face teams we will see at the conference meet where our peak performance is expected." Nunnally, who enters his tenth season as head men's and women's swimming coach, has scheduled eleven dual meets and two invitational events. The Explorers will open the regular season taking on two local schools. On Friday, October 24th, they take on the Villanova Wildcats- 4:00pm Dive and 6:00pm Swim, and on Saturday they take on the Drexel Dragons at La Salle's Kirk Pool - 1pm. The Explorers will then host two Atlantic 10 dual meets. November 1st, the Colonials of George Washington University come to Philly for and the following week St. Bonaventure comes to town. After two weeks at home, the Explorers will close out the fall semester on the road. On November 15th the Explorers will travel to Newark, Delaware for a double dual meet with the University of Delaware and Rider University. On November 21st the Explorers will travel to Lewisburg, PA for a three day Invitational at Bucknell. The three day trials/finals invite will have teams from all over the east coast competing.
December and the start January will give the team a break from competition for exams and holidays. In January, the team will take their annual training trip down south and return to action at the URI Invite on January 16th and 17th. The Explorers will take on A10 foes George Washington, UMass and University of Rhode Island. Seeing more conference competition in the following 2 weeks, La Salle will travel to New York and take on A10 rival Fordham on January 24th. The following weekend will have two meets. A women's only meet against the NEC Conference Runners up St. Francis on Friday January 30th and dual meet on Saturday, January 31st for both teams against Duquesne. The Explorers return home to host cross-town rival University of Pennsylvania on February 4th at 6pm and the Men's team travels to State College, PA to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday, February 6th.
