Explorers Split Meet with Saint Bonaventure

Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle swimming & diving team wrapped up their three-match homestand on Saturday as they went on to split the meet with Saint Bonaventure. The men fell to the Bonnies, 164-119, but the women cruised to victory, 171-125, giving them their third straight win on the season.

Junior Shannon Duval had a perfect day, garnering three first place finishes on the afternoon. Duval finished first in the women's 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.46), the women's 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.13) and the women's 200-yard IM (2:09.32).

Sophomore Jessica Carbin followed up Duval's performance with two first place honors of her own. Carbin finished as the top performer in the women's 100-yard backstroke (58.41) and the women's 200-yard backstroke (2:06.89). Freshman Laurie McLaughlin led all divers with two first prize honors in both the women's 1-meter diving event (211.27) and the women's 3-meter diving event (211.12).

On the men's side, senior David Ellerson finished first in the men's 100-yard breaststroke (59.92) while placing third in the men's 200-yard IM (2:00.15) and the men's 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.65).

Junior Owen Black was another first place finisher for the men, leading the way in the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:44.65) and then finishing third in the men's 100-yard freestyle (48.17).


 

 

The Explorers travel to the University of Delaware on Saturday, November 15 as they take on the Blue Hens along with matching up against Rider University on the same day.
